macOS® and App Benefits with an SSD

This article showcases the performance benefits most users see running programs after an SSD upgrade.

MacBook Pro® (Late 2011) with a 240GB M500 SSD

These videos in the sections below show what a difference it makes to the boot up speed, as well as loading basic applications like iPhoto®, when using an SSD. The videos show an SSD that has been installed in a MacBook Pro® system. The Macbook Pro has a major increase in speed with an SSD installed, compared to only having upgraded DRAM.

Boot up speed

The data was cloned over so the SSD and hard drive in the video are identical. We then filmed the Mac booting up with each. Look at the difference it makes!

Loading iPhoto®

Again, using the identical data on the SSD and HDD, you can see how much faster applications load in this video.

Diablo 3™

Lastly, this video shows gains in gaming performance, both on Mac® and PC, while using an SSD.  You can see in the video how much faster games load on both systems with an SSD.
